So, my smaller female gray treefrog got a prolapse. I let her soak in sugar water overnight, but instead of retracting, it got bigger and turned clear. (It was pale pink before.) I assume that's because it absorbed more fluids, instead of the sugar drawing out fluids. Does Pedialyte work better?

Since that picture was taken, I dumped out the sugar bath and added paper towels, then dabbed a little sugar water directly on the prolapse. It's shrunk somewhat and returned to its original color, but it's sort of hanging by a thread now.
I had the same thing a few weeks back the prolapse popped shrevled up, there was a thread hanging out the vent it disappeared the next morning and everything's fine my frog is eating and happy.
Really? Hmm, perhaps they aren't true prolapses then.
real prolapse the frog took a huge **** and out popped his sack of intestines which he popped, and retracted back in. i would give your frog some time to retract it back. If not take it to a doctor and leave paying a minimum of 200 dollars.
So you're saying that the fluid- filled sack ruptured and drained, he retracted it, and he was fine?
Yes. Don't pop you frogs prolapse please do the sugar water thing.
Don't worry, I wasn't planning on taking it upon myself to pop it XD. I took her out of the sugar water a while ago and sprinkled some sugar directly onto the prolapse, it looks better now.
Lol. Good to hear.
Ok, so it seems the sac has popped and drained on its own. Now it's just a small pink thread which she appears to have mostly drawn back in on her own.
Pretty sure this is the result of eating a dubia roach that was too big the other day. She snatched it while I was trying to hand- feed the larger frog that shares her cage.
It's back in, she seems fine. Crisis averted.
Great, be more careful with those roaches take the appropriate steps like, feeding them in separate containers or watching out where each frog is before throwing in food so it doesn't happen again. You don't want her ending up in a froggy bag
