Hello I have had a pacman frog for about half a year now.
During his last feeding, about 2 days ago, two things happened.
1. He got some fiber in his mouth.
2. It looked as if he bit his tongue.
i ignored it because I didn't think it would be a problem. Today I was going to feed him, but as I did I noticed he will not use his toungue. When he reaches for the food he just snaps at it. The worst part is that it looks like he was having trouble swallowing it. The milworm layed in his mouth for almost a minute until he was able to eat it fully.
I think it is something with his tougue but I am really not sure. If someone can try to give me some input on this I would highly appreciate it.
Hi,
If you think he has bit his tongue and its effecting his eating the best bet is to go to a vet. I know this isn't helpful at the moment but we cant see in the mouth to see exactly whats happening, his tongue may be very swollen or it could be nothing at all. If he got cocofibre in his mouth this usually ok because they are able to pass it. If you think he may be having a hard time to pass it you could put him a nice warm bath and gently massage his right side, usually when they have swallowed a lot of coco fibre and it impacts them you will be able to see a big ball on his rightside. This is what you want to massage. In all honesty though if you really think hes bitten his tongue again you should bring him to the vet, you don't want it to get infected if hes put a nice cut in it, and if its already started to get infected you are going to need antibiotics.
I appreciate the reply. I will try to feed him out side of his terrarium so he won't accidentally eat anymore coco fiber. And for the vet, I will look around too see if any vets near me know how to care for amphibians. I just hope he can tough it out for a little longer because it sucks watching him struggle to eat.
thanks again for the reply I really appreciate it.
