Wild Toad with Puncture Wound and Maggots! Help!

Yesterday my sister found a wild American Toad with a puncture wound on its side. She brought it inside and placed it in a secure container with water and some soil, until I could come home and take care of it. This morning it was found with maggots on the wound, which were removed. At the moment the toad is very alert, when I remove the lid to the container it's in, it'll lift it's head and start hopping around. What should I do to help it, if anything at all? I took some pictures, but I can't post them because the site says they aren't valid images, even though they're jpg.

Hi! Me and other members can suggest bare bones care for the minimum, but firstly, the toad needs a vet in order to heal properly and safely. Right now is probably the most difficult time for it, mainly because stress of capture. Right now, try using a substrate easy to clean and replace, (Non-dyed paper towels) and several hides for it to, well hide. Imagine if you were "kidnapped" by a giant creature, you'd want several places to hide and rest too. Make sure it has a water dish as well, as long as it can safely climb in and out, It'll be fine. The website was hacked a while back, removing our like button and the ability to upload photos directly to the site, among other things. How deep is the wound? If it's surface, you could try dabbing on NON pain relieving antibiotic ointment. Since there were maggots there might be deeper infection though.
In general the vet would be your best bet for helping the toad survive, though, honestly you might be unable to find or pay for one.

Also, you need to host pictures on a service like flickr in order to post.

Unfortunately I had to release the toad today. My parents basically told me I had to release it today, and when I mentioned the vet, they got mad at me, saying that 'it was only a toad' and that 'I didn't understand the value of the dollar'. So I gave it a honey bath, offered it a couple of crickets (it ate one), and placed it in the toad house in the garden. Hopefully it'll pull through on its own, thanks for the replies everyone!
