Not really. Their care is almost identical to pacman. I fed and maintained my old male exactly the same has my pacman with exception of a bigger water area.
Its more of a variety thing. The supplementation I listed above takes care of its needs. Mice and fish are just extras. Honestly their aggressive garbage disposals. Most people just feed that to feed it. I may feed parasite free mice/lizards/culled cichlids for variety, but my main staple by a long shot is insects. Particularly earthworms.
I put a handful of insects in a baggy shake it with calcium 2x a week and then do the same with a multivitamin 1x week. Feeding a pyxie I keep tossing in bugs by the cup full for 10min then stop unless I give a mouse. I let it hunt the vertebrate then once done I feed insects again. After a mouse I don't feed for several days and let it soak then resume the staple.
