The advice given to you is very helpful, and another quick way to tell what type of animal you have. If it has toe pads, it's a type of tree-frog. (Hyla) If it has a long narrow snout and stays near water, you have a type of "True frog." (Lithobates, formerly Rana) If it has warty skin (And no toe pads mind you, there are two tree-frogs with warty skin in the US) and stays burrowed somewhat, you have a "True toad" (Anaxyrus, formerly Bufo)
