Infection on litoria caerulea

Hi,

I have 5 years old litoria caerulea.

It caught infection. I brought him to vet.

He stated me buying gentamicin %2 from pharmacy.

But I'm worried about my frog. I brought him into another terrarium. %60 humidity.

The first time he had a bacteria infection and on the first day :

There are nobody who understand very much on amphibian. He made some research on academic connections. He told me using it.

He said human and pet medicines are the same. Some companies produce pet antibiotics with new names. But we use on ourselves what we use for pets.

Sometimes green scars lost. But then shows up again.

Did he test the frog to see if it had a bacterial infection? Because if it's something else like a fungal infection then antibiotics won't work. How are the frog's legs? Anything that looks like broken blood vessels?

If it is a bacterial infection, I don't know what to tell you. If the tank isn't cleaned out and disinfected the frog could get it again, but it's a little too soon for re-infection to happen. Maybe the medication is either not working or it's causing side-effects? My frog seemed to become sicker for quite a while after being treated for protozoa.

Legs became thinner. But not red.

I found exotics vet. She found it very weak. Started treating with calcium dost and very low dose of antibiotics. But color became strange. Before I found vet , it was sleeping for days. Now it became very active.

If it's moving more that's a hopeful sign. I'd also keep watch to make sure the other frog doesn't develop symptoms.

I'm hoping the vet did test for bacteria and that it is a bacterial infection rather than a fungal one. Otherwise you'd be treating the wrong thing. Moving after being treated for calcium deficiency is a good thing though. Calcium deficiency can mess up a frog's muscles and seeing him moving a lot is a sign of improvement in one area at least.

It's starting to look healthier, good job, hope it gets better soon!

His inner virus inside the stomach is over. And outter virus is %95 over.

I will start feeding him with some kind of foods.

Looking great! It may be hard for you to find where you are, but try to find earthworms that aren't from the wild, as they are very nutritious and easy to digest

I find it quite easy to make White's Tree Frogs gain weight. Earthworms, crickets, they all work if the temperature in your vivarium is ok.

What is the temperature in your vivarium? Because my WTFs have a more bright green color, most of the time. If they're as dark brown as yours it usually means they're cold.
