I have an american toad that I caught from the wild last July, this is the first breeding season I've had her and I'm not sure if I should get her a larger water dish or if I should just keep refilling it everyday with clean water. The last month or so she has been flinging her substrate into her water dish until there is no more water and just mud. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or anything to help her through this, she's alone and has no mate. My fiance and I have been planning on going out and finding a partner for her or just a friend really. She has no problems and is perfectly healthy. I just would like to know what her obsession with making my cleaning process harder means.
Toads will track mud into there water dishes but the water should be changed everyday, so it is not a problem
I agree with Jason, it's easiest to just dump, rinse, and refill daily with fresh dechlorinated water.

Though, if you're hoping to breed, a shallow larger dish might encourage breeding.
