Keeping Pyxies in a Rack

I'm referring to rack systems that you keep reptiles in.

It really depends on the rack. Provided there is good ventilation, proper temperature and substrate, then I'll say yes.

Thank you. I've herd about people having success keeping pacmans in racks, but I can't find any info about doing it with pyxies.

John is really the expert here, but I throw my 2 cents in.

A rack system should work with under tub heat strips and some ventilation. My concern would come with a normal light cycle? Usually the rack system makes the tubs very dark 24/7.

Just a thought.

I've heard that you shouldn't use under tank heat since these are burrowing frogs. Heat from the bottom is just not natural to them. They go down to avoid extremes(including heat). I would suggest back heat. I know a guy on another forum who uses racks for his horned frogs. I believe he heats the room there in to provide the proper ambient temperatures.

I would agree with you as far as natural heating goes, it would be from the top. But the soil would be warmed from the sun. I have had great success with keeping a heating pad on low under the earth end of the tank. The other end is a pool of water. I use fluorescent lights that really do not provide any heat at all. So, I have compromised on delivering heat. They grow and digest.

It works for me.
