Getting started on this project. I have got the foam background all laid out. I plan to use some brown silicon and put plantation soil to cover up the color. I still need to get the false bottom done as well.
I also did the false wood project. I opted for a burned PVC look I think it looks really cool and natural.

Very nice! I would sculpt the foam though after it cures (just in case you weren't going to sculpt it).

I am certainly going to sculpt it but what would the best tool to use be? A knife or sandpaper or what else?
thanks for the reply!
Matt
I use a narrow utility knife, a fish filleting knife and a hacksaw blade without the hacksaw. Your fingers are useful too.

Nice I cant wait to see the pics.Im thinkin about using the foam as a background to but how would you put the soil on there?what do you use? Also wouldnt it have been easier to do the false bottom first then the background?
Hey, I was just wondering, how did you make the pvc pipe look like a log? It looks amazing! Did you melt it and shape it? How did you get the color so natural?
Avelte, here is a detailed "how to" for fake wood: http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...cheap-way.html
