I'm not really fluent on native arachnids, but it looks like a juvenile orb weaver to me. Has it spun a web yet?

I don't know much about spiders, so I don't think I can tell you what kind it is, but I assume you would be able to keep it.
It's a nursery web spider. I don't know exactly what species, but I've seen it before a few times. They seem to be more terrestrial than most nursery web spiders- almost every individual I've seen was on the ground or on top of a wooden board, out in the open in broad daylight if that helps you any.
