Default New here- Green and golden bell frog (tadpoles) owner

    Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and quite new to frogs I used to have frogs as a kid, and have had tropical planted fish aquariums for the past few years. I'm excited to be getting back in to frogs! I'll likely have a few questions as I plan to give my frogs the best environment possible and am a bit of a novice.

I'm in New Zealand, so don't have many options as to species of frog (we only have x3 types of frog available). I currently have x2 green and golden bell frog tadpoles (not sure if they are at all common with frog owners on this site?). I will attach photos soon. At the moment they are in an old tank of mine (8.5 gallons) but I think since these frogs can grow quite large I'll be updating them- any idea of the ideal size for green and golden bell frogs? I was thinking of perhaps a 20 gallon?

Looking forward to reading all of your wisdom, particularly when I build their 20 gallon planted vivarium later on

    Hey there,

Yes green and golden bell frogs can grow quite large. Males grow to around 8cm and females about 11cm.

I am unsure of gallons (I prefer to go by dimensions when talking about frogs) but roughly speaking two bell frogs should have a MINIMUM of 60x30x30cm (LxWxH) for their tank and have about 1/3 of that space as water and the rest land. But as with most frogs the bigger the tank the better.

What are the measurements of your 20 gallon?
