Dusting for me has always been a bit of a mystery on how much, I usually dust (repcal D3/herptitvite) everyday, usually skipping a day every week. If you're concerned about your toad eating substrate you could always feed him in a sub free feeding enclosure.

I decided to keep him on the eco earth and feed him in a bowl. Since my first post he has literally tripled in size.
