Hi All,
I'm new to this site and considering the purchase of a Whites Tree frog. The care sheets all seem reasonable, but I have a few questions. First how fast do they grow from the size typically found at pet stores? I have a currently unused 10 gallon glass tank and while I know this would not be great for an adult, how long would it last a juvenile? My second big concern is how often they need to be fed. I'm sure if I went on vacation I could find someone to feed it, but what about the holidays when everybody is going places? If they do need to be fed pretty often what do most folks do when they go out of town?
Thanks for all your help.
Hi there! White's are great.
They grow so fast. But I had mine in a 10 gallon for a year before I upgraded. As far as feeding goes...When they're adults, you could go a few days without feeding, and they'll be ok. Mine eat about every other day. Sometimes I'm a horrible pet owner who forgets she bought crickets, and they'll go a little longer without. While they're juveniles, you're feeding pretty much each day.
Thanks for the info, what do you typically do if you have to be away for a week or so?
I usually have someone feed them while I'm away. Even if the person you have to feed them is a little grossed out by the idea of crickets, they could just go to the pet store the day of feeding and buy exactly how many crickets they need, and just dump it straight into the tank.
