    Default New set up *Update!

So thank you to those who replied about my still water not being the best without a water pump, and 70 degree temps...
I went to Petland and got Mr. Floppy some gifts!

Today has been a record for eating...since I changed his setup yesterday and gave him a water bowl, he'll sit in it and eat when i put a worm infront of him!
He ate 2 pretty big horned worms and about 35 super worms!!!!!!

Anyways, new 75 basking bulb, I got him an orange heat pad, but am not sure if i should install in yet because his terrarium is wet sand and moss on right of water bowl, and plantation soil on left. He seems to like the sand half more so far but I don't want to install the heat pad on that side. So i think ill wait some time.

Anyways here are some new pictures! Enjoy!

What a beast, I'm so jealous!

I wouldn't bother with a heat mat, they're not ideal and more trouble than what they're worth. In order to use it, you'd actually need a thermostat to control it and a digital thermometer to measure the temps, as it will most likely get to 100oF unstatted.

Low wattage ceramic heat emitters or red bulbs work great for night heat. For my horned frog I use a Zoo Med red night light bulb on a dimmer thermostat that will automatically lower the temps at night so I can use it 24/7. In order to create a day and night cycle I have a UV bulb right next to it

Thanks, i didn't open/install it yet since I wasn't sure. I was looking at those red lamps but was unsure, I'll go in tomorrow and buy one!

I'm waiting on the day he'll eat a mouse...not sure when I should get him one but I'm thinking soon!

With the red lamp you'll be able to see him at night so that's a bonus You tried him with one yet? Always good putting some whole prey in soon as possible

I tried about 8-12 months ago but he didn't eat him. So they literally lived together and were friends, the mouse even sat on my frog to clean himself and every time i misted the cage he;d run up the log and shower... he loved climbing upside down like spider mouse, until one day he drowned in the water bowl...

    True story

If your going to use a heat pad use a "rainforest" pad from exoterra. they use less watts and dont get as hot. mine is like 80 degrees.

Correct me if im wrong but either that is a female Giant pixie OR a male Dwarf pixie. Im leaning towards the dwarf from your pics.
