Rusty Screen Lids. Prevention?
Is there any frog safe disinfectant which will sanitize screen tops without rusting them out? I did a full top to bottom disinfect with a 10-20% bleach solution this summer and now my Exo-terra tops, and even the much stronger mesh lids that fit on standard terrariums, are getting rusted out. Replacing the mesh lids is easy enough, but I don't know if Exo-Terra sells replacement tops. I can't afford to keep replacing tops every time I go to disinfect things though... :/

Just remove the metal mesh and replace it with fiberglass screening, just like you would do a replacement on a home window. It even works the same way. You may need to replace the cord as well, it never comes out in one piece.

Simple, go with darts. No more crickets. Of course, that was just my solution lol

But i do know that amazon sells the exact replacement screens for the exo terra as long as you have a newer model with the half moon dials and not the clips. I just had to replace a rusted out one on a used tank I bought. I think it was under $30 but if you're handy you can replace with fiberglass. I was just lazy.
