    It looks to me like a sansevieria, aka "mother in laws tongue". Pretty hardy and tends to produce pups (i.e. "baby" plants that grow off to its side).

    Thank you Aliza. That's what I was thinking too but needed a second op. Any idea the exact species? I can take more pics. I'm just not sure it's the right plant for my setup so want to replace and repot.

    Without the yellow variegation of the leaf edges, I would guess this one is a sansevieria trifasciata.

    Thank you sir! Confirmed my suspicions. Removed it from the cresties tank as it doesn't provide any shade and may overtake the tank in short order. Thought it would be good to support their weight but looks like it grows straight up.
