Hi everyone!
I recently bought a small table to put my frog cages on, and the other day I got my two dumpy frogs out of the cage to clean it, as well as feed them. I was watching them in between them chomping on crickets, and I noticed that one of them was sitting kind of funny. The best that I can describe it is that he was sitting back on his wrists and ankles. His feet weren't touching the table. I picked him up to look at his feet to see if anything was wrong (there wasn't anything), and he did the same thing sitting in my hand. I'm not concerned or anything, I was just wondering what this is, or if anyone else's frog does this. Here are a few pictures. (In these pictures they are on the coffee table, not their table)
I know that two of the pictures are blurry, sorry about that
Anyway, the other thing that the same frog does is this clicking noise. One day I was checking on all of them, I heard the noise coming from the cage, and when I opened the top, it stopped, and I didn't think anything of it. Then later on I discovered that it was coming from him, and now he does it frequently, even when I am holding him. I can't really describe the noise though. It's definitely not a croak, it doesn't sound anything like it. The other weird noise he makes is a barking noise when he sees crickets. It sounds more like a croak actually, just very very high pitched. It scares me every time because it's so sudden. I will try to record the noises, but the clicking is sort of quite, and I'm not sure my terrible camera will be able to pick it up.
Like I said, I'm not worried about any of this, just curious if anyone else's frogs do this.
Looks like hes getting ready to say grace, or meditating, or plotting something, or just sitting politely with his hands folded.
Mine sit like that sometimes...its as if they don't want the sticky parts of their fingers to touch the surface...I do not know why they do it! Mine also bark at their food, but it usually happens when they miss the cricket! Your guys look plump and healthy in the pics!
I would suspect that this surface may iritate their hands and feet or they are already iritated from something else.
My avatar is a picture I took of him while he was doing the bark thing. Pressing his face against the cricket cage is a nightly occurrence for himMine sit like that sometimes...its as if they don't want the sticky parts of their fingers to touch the surface...I do not know why they do it! I've seen my Igby do this while sleeping sometimes on one of the various branches. Looks even more "meditative" with her eyes closed!
I can't believe they just sit on the table while you are cleaning! I've never tried that, course, I have a very very curious cat so a "free frog" isn't an option.
