So went in to mis Weldons cage today and I couldn't dine him anywhere. There were some spots where it looked like he was digging him self down in a hole, but that normal. This guy is baseball sized and i just couldn't believe i couldn't find him.
Very VERY softly i poked down into softened areas where it looked like he may have dug up, he was completely submerged in substrate, away from heat and covered, he made a weird noise when i poked him too.

Is it normal for them to completely submerge them selves?
I didn't wanna poke around too much or pul him out because
1. I don't know where them teeth are lol
and 2. thats where he put him self so I'm assuming thats where he wants to be

I have a 30 gal breeder.
Substrate is about 2-3 inches thick
Temps range from 83-90 depending on the day here in california.
He has been eating well, anything i give him.
Usually is in his water pool i made him.
Kinda strange, I've had him since end of aug and got him as a baby frog and he has never done this

Ya its normal for him to fully submerge himself, I don't see mine at all till lights go off. During the day they look like empty tanks with some plants, I actually had a buddy one day ask me if I even had anything in the tanks or if the inhabitants died. L.O.L And from the look of the temps its pretty hot, should be around 82f during day. That's why hes probably buried on the cooler side of tank. My female has a few spots in her tank where she will bury herself and they are on different sides of the tank, She will sit on the warm side for few days and then venture over to the cool side to her corner and then after a few days back to warm. So all in all if everything else seems ok I wouldn't worry about it to much. And I know what you mean about pokeing around trying to find them when they are buried, almost got bit a couple times. And I never handle mine unless for cleaning so they aren't very used to my hands being in there so when my fingers do start poking around they really associate them with food. You know what I just went to the top and realised we were talking about a GABF and not a pacman frog, what a big DUH on my part. But all in all they are both kept in similar conditions so the advice given I imagine could be use full for you. And from what I know GABF will completely submerge themselves like a pacman frog. And the little noise he made was probably just from him being startled.

lol! Thank you though! He ended up comming out like 3 hours later I let him be though because I didn't wanna bug him too much and make him mad lol thanks a lot!

My gafb does that often. I have 10" of substrate because he loves to dig. That noise he made was just him grunting out air as a warning, thinking you were a predator. Usually if they stay buried a lot, it's because it's too hot.
