Thread: Snails with Fire Belly Toads

Default Snails with Fire Belly Toads

Well I seem to have had an explosion of snails in the 55g from either the anubias or java moss I put in recently from my LFS. Can anybody share their thoughts on whether the fbt's will help control the population or if they are not safe for the frogs to eat and I should work to remove the snails? I don't imagine they will entice the frogs to eat by movement so I'm guessing the answer is no but thought I would check first in case they present any dangers of impaction if small snails are ingested.

They will most likely wind up froggy snacks. Which, with the snail shell, would be bad. Ours attempt to eat any and everything that moves and they can grab.

Great. I'm going to have a hell of a time getting all these damn snails out. Every where I look I see a few tiny ones. They move so slow and stay in the water I was hoping they would ignore them and they might coexist.

Found some references to them actually eating snails as adults, so I may be ok here. They may have already I presume.
