All im going to say about this is once you put it on the side your going to lose a few degrees, its going to happen. If you cover 2/3 of the top with foil or saran wrap it helps from letting the heat escape. As the heat rises it is reflected back down into the tank. I do this and it helps a lot, and the way mine is setup is I have2/3 covered but 2 parts cut out instead of covering 2/3 and haveing just one opening for the air. This way there is a intake and outtake for airflow which will help a lot from the air going stagnant. Oh almost forgot the foil helps keep heat in better then saran wrap. I find saran wrap is ok if your just trying to trap humidity but isn't the best for heat.
