    Default RIP Squacamole :(

So yesterday I lost my little buddy Squacamole. He had been sick for some time, and fought hard but couldn't overcome whatever he had. I noticed probably two months ago that he wasn't showing much interest in food, then a little over a month ago he looked like he was struggling to poop and started to close his eyes. Off to the vet we went and he was prescribed stool softener and critical care food, pooped after a few days but wasn't acting any better. The vet wanted to do an enama, but the night before I brought him back in, he pooped again, so now bowel problems. In the mean time he started to retain fluid in his body and looking a bit pale, so he was drained and the fluid tested with nothing of note. Back to the vet for a blood draw that showed some sort of infection, now onto some antibiotics. Still no marked improvement over a week and still retaining fluids, so filled a prescription for furosemide on Monday, gave him a dose around 630, and a soak at about 11 pm where he pooped but it was kind of liquidy. Could tell he wasn't feeling good at all. Woke to find that he had passed in the night. His necropsy showed some major problems in his liver and spleen, which are off to the pathologist now. I will post any results that come back. This is the second frog I have lost this year, and both were only around 2 years old. I really hope I can get some answers this time for the sake of my other four. He was such a nice and wonderful frog and miss him a lot, I feel so bad about not being able to help him, and that I'm sure on top of not feeling well he thought he was being tortured as we were trying to get him better.

Hey, so sorry to hear he passed. And don't be too hard on yourself by the sounds of things you did everything you could do. And you took the step of bringing him to the vet, a lot of people wouldn't have. They would have just let nature takes its course. Again so sorry to hear he didn't pull through for you.

I am so sorry to hear. It certainly sounds like you did everything you could.
