I really like pacman, tomato, chubby, and pixie frogs. I want some experienced people to help guide me. I would like a frog that makes some sound, but I don't want it to be too loud either. Are any of them more active than the other? I understand that they'll mostly just be burrowed in the substrate, but it would be nice if they moved around a bit. I've done a lot of research for pacman frogs as they seem to be the quietest, do the others have greatly different needs I should be aware of?
What do you guys prefer? What would make a good frog for a beginner?
Any advice and tips are appreciated.
For activeness out of three the tomatoes would probably be your best bet. They are all kept in the similar way heat and humidity wise, but the tomatoes you have to put in more hides because they will use them more then the others. The other thing I like about tomatoes is that you can put a male and female together and they will be best buds. I know a guy that has 3 of them 1 male and 2 females and they are always together, its funny when they are all stuck in one hide together because there is always someones butt sticking out the entrance. I love my pacmans but these guys are great.
So with the tomatoes, how many gallons should my terrarium be to have 2?
Also with tomatoes, can I have two males? Or does it need to have a female to help balance things? Also regarding their croak, how load does it tend to be and how frequent?
Thanks for any tips! I really want to make sure I get the right one.
I don't think with chubbies and tomatoes that it matters with two of the same gender. Could be wrong though, don't own any
Also, based on your ideas of what you want, (Somewhat active, easy to feed and care for, no aggression between same sex) I recommend Bombina oreintalis, (Probably butchered that, if you're reading this please post the correct scientific name please) or other words, the fire-bellied toad. I will post the care-sheet here to see if you would like some of these guys![]()
