Thread: New turtles.

    Default New turtles.

SO I went along to this fishing spot near my house. As a friend recommended me to get a large net and just go along the weeds. Well apparently I found one baby muskie. But the little dickens escaped through the nets large holes. The other muskies were along the shallow area. There I found one adult male, one juvenile female, and one adult female(old). The juvenile female has a jet black skin, with bright yellow stripes. Shes only about 3inches? Or so? Well with my fingers I counted only 3 inches. I just gave them a sulfa bath to kill anything on them. Plopped them in the tank. The young female is very curious right from the start. The painted turtle just sits on a internal filter(powerhead) and lets his neck out. Iam testing to see which ones would do well in captivity. Ived done this before and have been successfull. But before I just used to keep t hem for a month and release them back. So I could enjoy their company. Since the loss of my great pet due to an accident. Iam catching and releasing these turtles to see which ones would do great inside a tank. And which ones would just be depressed. See for some reason. Some specific specimens adapt to captivity and eventually come to enjoy it. I say this because its not hard to tell when an animal feels "happy". You can ussually tell if its not constantly cowering and hiding. Currently only two arent cowering and hiding. :P So ill hope for the best. Maybe I can breed the muskies? xD who knows!
