Hi im kinda new and i have a questionkeep changing colors, sometimes there so dark i can barly see the spots on there back and sometimes there light green or brown or dark brown,i dont no if its just there species that change color or there sick or there just fine, gilbert my slightly older toad who changes color more often then my other one has been extremely active this morning and kkeeps trying to crawl up the class but this isnt new behavior hes always tried climbing up the glass since hes become a frog. but hes not usualy this active he used to be really fat and overfed as a tadpole and a young frog ,and now since yesterday hes gotton skinnier he never used to be able to get on top of his log because he was fat but i found him on it this morning,so i guess what im asking is ,is there anything wrong with them are they sick or just normal or stressed?i clean the water every day and ther dirt once a month.and i feed them about 2 cricketes every other day,and they are about 1and a quarter inches long. and they just bvecame frogs about 2 weeks ago
oh and there both great basin spadefoots
OK let me start off by saying I have no experience with spadefoots of any kind. That being said, a lot of frogs can change color or darken and lighten depending their surroundings. This may be the case with yours.
Likewise, I have no specific experience with spadefoot toads, but my Woodhouse's and American toads often look dark or dull a day or two before they shed...
