Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the requirements for background mounted plants?
What size netpot is needed for plants that are mounted into the spray foam of a background?
3" seems small, and I'm worried about the plants getting rootbound but 5" looks very large in a smaller vivarium.
Any advice is greatly appreciated,
Chris
If you choose epiphyte plants, you will not need background pots at all. You pin them in with some long fibre sphagnum. I ended up HATING the pots in the first foam background I made. No matter how small, no matter how well planted, I could always see them and they look oversized and unnatural.

There's no rule of thumb on pot sizes, with the exception of miniature violets. Those are the only ones that I am aware of that require a max pot size. 2" in their max, otherwise they lose their 'miniature' status. They are one of the few that can be root bound and not suffer.

Lesson Learned:
Hardscaping net pots into the vivarium only works if its exactly what the end product should look like. And it doesn't matter which size are installed, because its sucks trying to remove them.
