    Default My new frogs!

I got my new frogs today! They are a pair of X. muelleri and a male borealis. They are beautiful. I really like how dark the muelleri are. I'll post pics once they get settled in.

I'm really excited! They are awesome! I haven't been watching them too much, just to let them get used to their surroundings without a pair of huge eyes watching their every move. My male muelleri got away from me briefly when I was putting him into his new tank. Man, he can jump! He actually did about a foot high leap off the ground!

I'm planning on having the riparium ready within a week, so I'll snap a few pics during the move. Normally I would do a 6 week quarantine, but all my frogs except the ones I bred, come from Burley at Xenopus Express, and he has healthy frogs. I feel that the risks of introducing them after a short quarantine are minimal. If I were to buy from anyone else, I would do at least a 6 week quarantine, if not longer. I would also do a chytrid test before introducing them. I still do a twice yearly communal test by using one swab on all my frogs. It has never been positive, but If it were, I would treat all my frogs since at some point they will have all shared water (either in the breeding rack or in a resting tank.)

    Speaking of
chytrid, has anyone used lamisil to treat clawed frogs? I'm curious how well it will work on a fully aquatic species.

Here is a pic I snapped today. It's hard to tell them apart by the pictures, but there is a pair of borealis and a pair of muelleri. The female borealis is a breeder I have had for a while; the male borealis and the pair of muelleri are new. The borealis are the two on top.
