Elly, cycling a tank is easy. It's the waiting that most people have an issue with. If you do it correctly, it should take about 6 weeks to cycle (provided you don't already have mature media to use). In this day and age of instant gratification, nobody wants to wait anymore, so tanks fail.

The way I've always cycled tanks is by keeping extra filters in my established tanks and using them to seed new aquariums. I don't keep much aquatic stuff anymore, just a few fish and my clawed frogs, I did have a 55g and some other tanks a while ago but I had an apartment then and it was getting.. cramped.

I plan on getting some magnetic ledges and getting some of those riparium plant holders, the tank is a little on the sad side but at least it's easy to maintain.

I've always done it that way. Makes life so much easier.

Those riparium holders are excellent. Are you getting them from riparium supply?
