Default Just for fun. What's your "go to" building material?

    Hello all.
I thought I start this post for some fun and to see what everyone's favorite go-to secret ingredient, odd piece, or outside the box building material for your vivarium build?

Mine are the rolls of plastic gutter guard. It costs around $6 for a 6in by 30 ft roll.

I love this stuff. Just give me a roll, some scissors, and a pack of zip ties and I can keep myself busy for days
I've used it for making some cool vines and branches, by getting into the right shape and then spraying foam on the inside
I make all of my plant baskets from it
I cut it into strips to use in fruit fly cultures instead of excelsior
And a few other things that have slipped my mind.

Let's hear it what's your favorite odd vivarium building material?

My last red eye build, I used a paint pan for a water dish. Had the perfect gradual depth for a frog that isn't very keen on swimming.

Hehehe. This is an interesting question. I would have to say that my favorite building 'material' , would be plants. I don't do many tanks with backgrounds anymore, which forces me to select my plants much more diligently to get the look I am going for.

Hmmm, hard to narrow down. Spray foam, egg crate, Titebond III glue, loose tree fern fiber. Need it all!!! If i'm building a water feature though I would say I definitely need an egg crate false bottom, for me works the best.

    Zip ties are the best!
