Hello guys. So little Kibbits needs to be hand fed right now while he's sick : ( I'm having a heck of a time trying to get him to open his mouth. Every time, before I even get the syringe close to his mouth, he's swiping it away!
Here's the technique I'm using currently (as suggested by the vet): I make a little wrap made of paper towels soaked with luke warm frog treated water. That way I can kind of swadle him without having to hold him too tightly.
Beyond that, he's just not opening up for the syringe, and the vet gave us the tiniest one she had! :P The best I'm getting at this point is to smear it on the side and hope that he licks it off (which he's done one or two times).
Anyone here had experience with handfeeding WTFs? We've got to feed him twice a day until he's strong enough (hopefully!!!!!) to feed on his own.
Any advice would be so appreciated!!!!
The term you want to use is "force feeding", not hand feeding. That being said, I use the pointed end of dental floss picks to open frog mouths.

Once again, THANK YOU. We will gently try this method ; ) Yesterday the vet tried to use a throat compressor to gently pry his mouth open, but I think it was just as thick as the little syringe we are using. This definitely looks smaller.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Sincerely,
Sarah
