Thread: New Guy from Canada

    Default New Guy from Canada

Hi I'm new to the site and relatively new to frog keeping.

I've had a leopard frog for a while now, but I only know the very basics. I'm looking forward to learning from this forum.

Also, does anyone know of any good book that covers the care of leopard frogs?

Welcome!! I'd recommend poking around the forum for some information - books notoriously have false information (when they go to the editor they are more concerned about grammar than facts) and the amphibian world is constantly evolving and new things are always being learned.

Hope you enjoy Frog Forum, we love photos and would love to meet your leopard frog!

Hello and welcome to the forum! I have experienced what Jen said regarding amphibian books. They tend to either be outdated or not fact checked at all. Here is a care sheet from the forum though, that you may find helpful - http://www.frogforum.net/content.php...ocephala-(1886)
2.0.3 Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"
2.2.0 Agalychnis callidryas "Red Eyed Tree Frogs"

0.0.3 Dendrobates auratus "Turquoise and Bronze"
    0.0.1 Anaxyrus fowleri "Fowler's Toad"

Thanks for the welcome. Here are the pictures I uploaded for another thread : http://s736.photobucket.com/user/simdesign1/library/ (I took the first one not long before cleaning, the terrarium, so don't mind the dirtiness, please.)

I love care sheets and I know books have a bad reputation, but when they're written by a knowledgeable person they can come in handy when you have problems, even if they're a bit outdated.

Right now I'm mostly concerned about health issues. As you'll see in that first picture, my leopard frog has a bit of a problem. I started a thread on it (http://www.frogforum.net/showthread.php?t=34960), but, so far, no solution has been found. The swelling has started to go down a little, but I'd still like to find out more about the problem and about common health issues and how to treat them.
