    Question Froglet lost his tail.....

Admin please move if this post doesnt belong in this forum....

Hello....this is my first post and as you will be able to tell right away i am new to all this.
So for a quick synopsys...we bouht one of our kids this frog plastic set up and you order the frogs....well i was not going to put the tadpoles in this plastic set up so we got a 20 gal long aquarium...got a small rocks from a river....set up an area for the frogs to climb out of the water put moss on that area and maybe 4 Inches or so of water...and a filter....

Ok so one of the todpoles dropped the tail about 2 days ago and now i see him between the rocks and around the wet areas but not on the top of the moss...

So my question is....i read somewhere that for the first week after they come out of the water do not give them food because they eat their tails?..is this correct?

My biggest question is what do i put for him to eat in the tank...right now the set up doesnt lend to just grabbing him out of there...do i need to move him to a different set up...most importantly and what matters to this sub forum...what do i give him to eat????...i dont want him to starve to death.....

    Thanks for all the help.

By the way we were told these are grass frogs.

    Thanks again!!

Once he absorbs his tail, he won't eat for up to a week or less. The feeders for something that size, is to get some fruit flies and pinhead crickets, and to dust them frequently

Thanks Xavier....I will stop by the pet store today to pick up some fruit flies.....2 questions about your comment...

    1. Will he be alert enough to look for them if i just place them on something on the moss on the rock?...or do I need to catch him and put it in small container to eat....

    2. What do you mean by dust them?

    Thanks again.

dusting is sprinkling calcium dust on the feeder item. I will pull up a picture of a cup of one so you can see what it will look like

Also, do you know what species it is yet? If not, be sure to post a picture so we can see what species it is

We were told they were grass frogs....thats it.

So what do you think should i move him to a small tank until he is bigger or leave him there and put the food in a spot he can see it....most of the time he is hiding in the rocks

I would put a dish in his tank so the food is in one area, and the frog can get in and eat
