You've got construction skills, why not make your own custom tanks and custom fit cabinets? If you're still on the idea of a two-part tank, building one from scratch would be more feasible than adapting an existing tank.

A multi-side-by-side-vivarium cabinet display like you see in zoos (with all tank infrastructure hidden) would be awesome in any living room.
