Hello everybody!
Allow me to start with a brief intro to my tank. Basically, I was given a metre long aquarium a few months ago and I thought it would be perfect as a converted White's tank with a water feature.
So I did just that! (See picture 1 at the end of this post)
The waterfall looks lovely (it is a tiny bit noisy but it wil do) and the tank is pretty much ready, except from the doors/entrance. Since this tank is a converted aquarium, the only entrance to the tank is what used to be the top of the aquarium. You can see this clearly to the right of the tank.
My problem is how to make a escape-proof door/entrance to the tank.
1) I have tried using only velcro (also seen) but with the constant opening and closing, in addition to all of the water splashes, AND the fact that my whites could escape from it, I have concluded that velcro is NOT the best way to tackle this!
2) After this I moved onto hinges and acrylic doors. This was okay, but still not what I wanted as there wasn't enough resistance in the middle of the tank where the two acrylic slabs met, which means an easy escape for the White's.
After this, I've come up with various alternatives, but none of which seem practical or what I want. My next idea was using turning buttons (similar to a rabbit hutch) all around the border of the tank to keep the acrylic in place (you can the borders of the tank clearly in picture 3)
So I guess my question is, does anybody have any ideas about how to make an entrance to the tank, which is frog-proof and makes use of the borders?
Any suggestions will be very, very appreciated. I've been stuck on this last part of the tank for a month now and I would really like to move my White's from their temporary tank to their new home.
Thanks!
