    Default A new face

I was looking at the woodpile for Woodlice under logs and cement blocks and I stumbled on this. I believe it's a female she was in a dangerous place with cats and skunks up there at night. I believe I rescued her because something left dig marks by the block I found her under. Friendly, I think she looks slightly different than my toads. I'm wondering if she could be a Fowler's Toad? She has a dark spot where her throat is. She has spots on her belly also. Please let me know what you think.

Spots on the rest of the belly means American I think. Plus the wart groups on the back measure two or less, whereas Fowler's toads can have up to three wart groups on the back

I have to get a picture of the belly, she has a dark spot on her throat that had me confused. Perhaps a hybrid?

I also know that it is rare, but could it be melanistic?

You know, it could be a hybrid, they can breed together in the wild and even though I do not endorse it can breed together in captivity

I'm not too sure, but it just seems kind of different from my female American toad. It's stomach is weird. Not unhealthy, just looks like a possible hybrid. There aren't many Fowler's Toads where my house is. So it could be possible I guess?

It has the mark imo of a Fowler's and a lot of dots on the stomach the whole way down. It's still a baby so there aren't many ways to test if it's a hybrid. I hear Fowler's won't eat Earthwotms, but if it is a hybrid it might eat them. Any suggestions?

I have some news for everyone concerning the toad. I'm letting her go in a safer place. I was going to keep her but I looked at the 75 Gallon and thought, why overcrowd it? It beautiful and it's not meant for that. So she will be going home after I feed her. The place I got my Leopard Frog got them in so I will be adding the final animal to the tank with a female to compliment my male. Wish this little toad luck!

So I let her go a few days ago and I was up at the woodpile looking for woodlice and I lifted a cement block , and there she was. It appears that she is going to stay up there. I'm happy to see her. I'll update if I see her again.
