Hi all! [emoji4]
About a year ago, my boyfriend bought me Fire Belly Toads. I had a pretty basic setup for them, but I quickly grew bored of it (as I'm sure they did as well [emoji6]). After seeing so many beautiful designs on Frog Forum, I was inspired to begin my very first build. This project has been mine & my boyfriend's baby for about a year. The best way to describe the process was trial & error. The best tip I can give: Ask questions, be proactive, &, for goodness sake, if you have a leak, don't rely on heaps is silicone to fix the problem (yikes!), save yourself some time & go with Drylok! Many members on here were so helpful with this process. Being a beginner, I had so many issues that I didn't even know where to begin to fix it. One member in particular helped a great amount, directly, & indirectly through reading his patient responses to other members. Bill (chipmunk), you are awesome! So upon my final reveal I just wanted to thank everyone & say what an awesome forum, & community, this is!
My build is now complete! Now, I'm just waiting for this moss to green up & enjoying the sound of the waterfall. It is hard to notice in the pictures, but I was able to create a dam that made separate water levels. There is a deeper side that is filled by the waterfall, and cute little streams that are created by the rocks in the dam. On the other end, there is a nice shallow side that my guys love to hang out in. I couldn't be happier with my selection of plants, & my ficus bonsai gives it a cool touch!
Sorry for such a lengthy post, but I'm sure many of you can relate to the excitement of finally finishing!
Thanks!
