Found 4 frogs in Very large empty plant pot with about 20/25cm rainwater in, they didn't seem to be able to jump out maybe because because it was a vertical jump needed, how long would they have been able to survive in there or would they of been in and out? There were no areas to crawl onto in the pot.
How long they could survive would depend on the temperature, the species of frog, age of the frog, available food (insects will make it pretty much everywhere), etc. They could live in there indefinitely if enough food and water keeps coming in.
In Ohio, you do have a few types of tree and chorus frogs that would have been able to climb out of the pot.
Thank you for your reply, we are in the UK, we took the frogs out and replaced the pot with a shallow pool (the saucer for the big plant pot) put a few flat stones in and semi covered it, one frog has been seen in the pool under the covered part then it's gone so I don't know if it's the same frog we see or not. I am concerned about the winter should we empty the water away until spring to prevent freezing? Thanks again
