    Red face Seeking MOSS!

    Hi all!

It's been sometime now that I've visited Frog Forum, but I am nearing the end in my vivarium setup. I've finally had some time off of work & school to finish up this project, and after MUCH trial & error, my viv has finally passed a few water tests! I can't express the relief & excitement I have after having to reconstruct several times--why is water so darn unpredictable?

Anyway, I am now ready to plant! I am seeking moss! Live tropical moss was recommended to me in the past by some helpful users, but at this time I am unable to find ANY! I've checked Black Forest, as well as amazon---no luck! I am hoping for, well, what everyone desires in moss, some lush, vivid greens that will thrive & even, possibly, spread up my back wall a bit & over the wood! Any recommendations are so very appreciated, & if anyone has any for sale or know of someone who has some for sale, I am ready to purchase now!

    Thanks everyone!

If you can't find sheet moss, you can always use Java moss or one of it's aquatic counterparts. Try checking eBay, normally there are people selling moss left and right there.

Thanks Bill! I ended up buying the dried sheet moss from Josh's. I'm hoping it greens up real nice!

NEHerpetoculture sells both live moss, and a moss slurry, for future reference.

Pooky, have you used the moss slurry? If so, what is your experience with it? Thanks for the tip!

I have used their moss slurry and Like it, just takes time for it to grow in. I am testing out my own moss slurry right now, but I am not ready to sell any just yet.

Paul, I'd love to hear how your slurry turns out! Maybe, eventually I'll experiment with my own [emoji6]

What I like to do is take several varieties Kyoto, aquatic, sheet etc, pop them in a blender with some distilled water and the spread the slurry all over. I usually get pretty good growth with this method.

What if I were to spread it on my back wall? It is foam, with a layer of silicone & a layer of coco fiber. The coco fiber layer is quite thin.

As long as the area stays moist and gets light the moss will grow

This is essentially what I do. I grow out different types of moss, trim them, blend then and paint it on.

    Default Seeking MOSS!

Thanks, guys! I ordered Josh's sheet moss, I'm wondering if it'll look nice to spray a slurry of that on my wall. I would think that a shorter moss would look better on a back wall. I can't remember what the color temp of my bulb is, I know, thanks to Bill, that that's a huge factor in the moss length & brightness!

***edit: My color temp is 6700, so I'm hoping I have some awesome moss growth! Can anyone clarify the watering needs?

You want to keep it pretty moist until it grows. I have an automatic mister set to spray for 15 sec each day and I get good results
