Isopods for WTFS and Milkies?
What are the largest species of isopods available for culturing? Will adult White's tree frogs and Milk frogs take any notice of them? Wondered if they would make a beneficial addition to my frogs diets.
Also, can dubia and isopods be cultured together in the same container? Looking for something easy to raise at home that won't take up a ton of space or pose a risk for getting loose and infesting the apartment! @_@

I am not sure if it is an isopod, but with soil you can culture these I think, what about millipedes? They decompose, and are large enough to be a feeder for them, so you can consider that a good option!

I culture isopods in a plastic shoebox with leaf litter. I have to add them to the grey tank regularly because they seem to forage for them. I do not use them specifically as feeders, but the greys do eat them. I'm not sure if they reds eat them or not, but they seem fairly abundant in the viv, so I'm guessing not.

I'll give isopods a try, if they don't work out for me I can always give them to another herper

I think you are thinking of centipedes, those you do not want to mess with! (Besides crickets those are the only arthropods I can not stand)

I'd be careful when introducing millipedes to a tank, they can do quite a bit of damage to wood and plants.

Millipedes do not have a toxic bite no. But they do release noxious gases when they feel threatened. The Millipedes won't cause much of a problem to wood, and none to plants since they only eat decomposing organic materials. I would not use Millipedes as feeders, the best thing is isopods which you should only feed as a treat as they have hard shells

Yup [emoji2] It is their defense mechanism. I am a huge insect person and used to keep millipedes. A frog would try to eat them, but it would not want to try it again

I have always seeded my tanks with the largest in the hobby, giant Orange isopods they were always safe in the white's tanks. They never even bothered with them because they are so small. They also take a long time to culture due to their taking so long to reach a mature size. (Roughly 7-8 months)

I'll have to hit you up with where to get those, Bill, lol. Jelly Bean is still my midget boy, so he might eat them. Of course the fat girls will eat darn near anything if I hand it to them, so they might take them. The Milkies are pretty voracious too and have eaten everything I have given them so far. :P
