Baby American Toad

Just recently i got myself a wild baby American Toad. Since i don't have access to pin head crickets iv'e been trying to feed him fruitflies (i pull one of their wings before i put him into a separate container to eat.) but he doesn't seem interested in them. I got him this Saturday and today is Tuesday, so it's only been about 2 or 3 days since he's eaten. Is he just adjusting to his new environment or is there something i can do better. Also is there a way i can make a lid for his tank that allows for ventilation but that won't let bugs escape. is it all right to feed him ants?

Great news! I got him some more ants and left him for a few hours and came back to find only a few left!
