Default Fire Bellied Toad heating question

Hi there. I was wondering if I'd need to put a 25W Exo Terra Daylight Heat Bulb on a thermostat? It's 12" away from basking platform and current temps are 24C. Should I be fine or get a lower watt? Pic of my set up is in the link. Thanks

That seems a lot for such a small viv. Brightness might be more of a concern than the heat though. FBT's, from what I've read don't like bright, direct light. I don't use any lamps that throw any heat at my ten gallon viv. Just a very cool fluorescent that was made for the aquarium it once was.

What is it doing to the surrounding temps of the rest of the viv? I don't really feel that FBT's need a basking light. Though in a much larger viv I might add one that is masked to only shine on an area less than the size of a CD/DVD.

I agree with the no heat. As long as you dont get colder than 60-65f you should be fine. No they dont like super brightness.

My planted 40breeder just has a full spec 13w 65k cfl and a 26w uvb10 (fine screen top). They love it. The uvb dome sits on the screen above the water where they mostly are. The full spec, hangs about 4 inches above the screen, because its only there for the plants.

thanks for the replies. i'm only using a 13 watt 2.0 and a 25 watt daytime heat bulb. without the light the tank would be around 64f-68f at the most
