Thread: Culturing fruit flies

    Default Culturing fruit flies

I just had a very basic question I am culturing wingless fruit flies. Right now I am storing them under my aquarium stand where there is very little light is this okay or do they need to be out in the light of the room.

    Thank you very much

    Roger

You can raise fruit flies in the dark.

Thank you very much for your information. Will they be more productive in the light or in the dark or doesn't matter at all.

It does not matter at all. I raise my fruit flies in a closed aquarium cabinet.

It is just the type of specie this fly is.

It's not a specie of fly ! It is a fruit fly strain with a particular type of mutated allele.

A little pair of tweezers, even smaller pair of scissors, and a whole lot of patience[emoji23]
