    Default cooling off viv

    Hey Froggers,

I was wondering if anyone could share some good ways to cool off a vivarium, our house has been warm since spring started and the wife isn't a super big fan of having the a/c on already, but wouldn't cooling off the temperature of the room the viv is in be the best way to cool off the tank? I've heard of putting a container with some ice in it into the viv but that seems silly to have to do that every time the ice melts. Would some sort of fan do anything to lower the temperature or just circulate air? Thanks all.

I don't have AC at my house and I haven't had to do this with the frogs yet (just got them in March) but with my crested gecko and gargoyle geckos who don't do well in heat above low 80'sF, I put an ice pack in each hot morning and remove it (and put it back in the freezer) each evening. It's worked fine for years.

Thanks Aliza. As long as that actually does work I'd be willing to give it a go.

I used little electronics circulation fans out of computers, xbuckets, and such. Theyre fairly cheap at radio shack.
Hooked up my portable heat pump tho. Much easier to just climate control the room. Have everything from beardies(110f) to firebellies(roomish temp) in there. But my collection is pretty big so it was kind of a must-do in my eyes.
