There may already be a thread on this but whatever. I am building a 29 gallon vivarium I need a background,it has to be able to get wet/have a water fall on it, and look good. I tried great stuff white foam and Eco earth and it looked bad,any other ideas?
Whatever is on the other side of the glass. <grin> I know many go to a lot of effort to make a background, but unless it's something functional like a waterfall or something the occupants can climb on or use, I just prefer to see through the tank.
Maybe my views based on my FBT's jumping into the glass when they tried to get to the habitat picture I used to have behind mine. They don't bash their heads against the glass since it's been removed.
Taller plants are my thing, but if your frogs climb a lot, that may be an issue. Otherwise I think it's how "artistic" and "skilful" you can be with the things you've already mentioned and similar materials. Unfortunately I'm not "artistic" in that way so I don't try.
I see you are in NY. If you are close to Floral Park, NY you can visit our showroom and see some of our displays that have backgrounds and water features. If you are interested feel free to email us at info@vivariumsinthemist.com
I live near binghamton ny, what do you make your backgrounds out of?clay?or foam?
I carve my backgrounds out of foam, grout, paint and seal. These backgrounds look wicked, but you definitely need some artistic skill to pull it off.

I'm not very artistic but it's worth a try
