Thanks for the info on the adf, I was unaware they are usually wild caught!
Do ACF get big? I thought they got to be pretty big, so was looking for a smaller tank inhabitant because I already have the bnp and the snails..
Also, so funny about the gravel, I have read what you are saying, and also read that the sand was bad as well.. others say the gravel isn't bad for adf's because they are so small and the sand is worse.
Can someone who has an adf chime in?

Well first off, pleco fish all have spikes, and clawed frogs eat anything they can grab, so that could end up horrible for every party. Females get hand sized, but males are generally smaller, about half the size of females. Gravel is bad, because normal sized gravel is easy to swallow, (and can mistake for a snail if there are any) but nearly impossible to pass and requires veterinary care. Sand can be swallowed as well, but it is easier to pass than gravel

Just curious if you own any adf Xavier? If you don't, I would prefer getting advice from someone who does...

I did, but they both eventually did succumb to spring disease after a while of horrible conditions. Gravel is acceptable for dwarf frogs (they are too small to swallow it) but for African clawed sand is the way to go, either that or bare bottom

I am fairly certain the African dwarf frogs are not wild caught in the North American pet trade. They are fairly easy to breed now. I do agree that they tend to come from some horrendous conditions and usually make it to the stores in either rough shape or already carrying disease.
