Yeah there was about a dozen crammed in what looks like a 10g in size... yup we keep pedialyte on hand because of the snakes also. I keep checking its breathing now and again. Hes been still and sleeping for a little bit. The dudes nose is bruised up pretty bad. When i showed them they said No he just got dirt on his eye, i yelled, so they were going to chuck him in a cardboard box till morning. It would have died i believe.
So here i am, another damaged goods package, just like me and 1/2 of my beloved pets (now healthy and thriving). Poor launchpad.... im going to make round 2 to the store and attempt to observe its siblings and see if theres any similar issues. None of them looked too good :-(
But observation of siblings healthy or not i think might tell me alot
Eesh. If it's not an illness or brain damage, it certainly sounds like MBD (not an expert here, but the seizures and not climbing fit.) Get some calcium into him! I don't know if there are special supplements (besides the regular cal D3) for reptiles/phibs that have calcium problems, but definitely look into it.
We are and ty. Since tge wife is now away at work. I may just do the humane thing. Makes me tear up but i feel its the proper thing to do. Ill give him a few hours after that im going to do it.
Lesson learned on illess 101.
See how its neck is highly swollen? Thats him head up. Still nose on the ground. Im making a call to Pets plus up in NY i met them at an expo and they specialize in wtf's
Poor little guy. Were you able to get him to eat anything?
It nibbled 4-5 dusted fruit flies... its poopie looks like straight eco earth. Still applying drops of pedialyte and honey from time to time. When it walks it keeps nose on the ground
Also: at the recommendation of a few places. A uvb10 has been added with the full spectrum to stimulate the vitamin d in the skin so it takes in calcuim. Said to kind of make it a uv tanning booth. So its worth a shot. Got the info off a nz science site thats researching mtb in frogs.

I agree you may have to put him down. It doesn't look like he can recover
Hey sorry to hear he isn't doing any better, but this upset me to the point that I called the vet hear that looks at my frogs for me and she is pretty good at what she does and from what I told her she said it does sound like MBD to her. but she did remind me that this was a over the phone observation but from the description that's what it sounds like. She said the giving the vitamins and the electrolyte soaks are on the right track. So this part I don't like saying but she said by the sounds of things that it is in the advanced or later stages of the disease and you should take it to a vet, and she said even then she didn't know if it would help but if it isn't to bad they may be able help to a point were the frog could live a somewhat life.
It does sound like mbd, poor little guy. I would definitely call those Pets Plus people, especially if they specialize in whites. You seem to be doing the right thing. I think he might have a chance with your wonderful care! I really hope he can pull through.

Poor guy. I didn't mean to imply you weren't doing everything you could.
I've heard of a frog surviving MBD and ending up healthy except for a warped mouth, but this looks pretty bad.
If you need it there's a thread on euthanasia somewhere here. Also be kind to yourself, yeah? I know this is really saddening.
Welp poor man did good all day then threw his last seize.
Rip launchpad mcquack.
On the plus side the store gave me 2 free due to it. One has the most beautiful silver/blue eyes. Thatll be a new thread.
So sorry![]()
So sorry he didn't make it. After following this thread today I thought of something, is there not someone who goes around to these pet stores that actually knows about animals to check and make sure they are being housed in clean and proper conditions that reach the requirements of the individual animal. Someone that is able to give them fines or shut them down till they fix the problems. Like how a health inspector can shut down a restaurant if doesn't reach certain standards and requirements? If not there should. And again, so sorry.
Thanks guys. I tried my best but my people said the same thing monster. As bad as it is, this was a highly educational experience. Ill male a thread here soon with the new guys. They came as my selection. The one baby is silver with silver eyes. So beautiful.
I do also wonder about inspection. i think it falls to the manager. Who is usually an idiot.
At least it was made up for by the store . Thank you again guys for all the assistance. He wouldnt have made it that far without it. On a plus with all the advice and what i did, he didnt sieze all day till then.
Thank you again.
So sorry for your loss.
