Brand new to this forum and brand new to frogs!
I've kept leopard geckos, i have fish and crested geckos right now.
So here's the question,
I have an empty 15 gallon aquarium(i'm down sizing on my water requirements since we have a drought here in CA, so i broke down a few tanks)
I would like a nice beginner frog/toad that is easy to care for. I can convert my tank into a vertical if need be.
I already have isopods and spring tails going.
I'm just wondering what i could use this 15 gallon for. please don't say African dwarf frogs lol. I don't care for those much. I cant really upgrade in size because the desk in going to put it on is already occupied with a rather large crested gecko vivarium. I could MAYBE squeeze in a 20 gallon but the main idea here is that i have an empty tank already and would like to get a nice easy inhabitant for it, that requires minimal water. Im going to be buying store bought water bottles for this tank that hopefully arent coming from california.
If i posted this in the wrong section, could you let me know where a better posting spot would be? there were a lot of threads and it was a little overwhelming.
thanks
i suppose i should mention the few frogs/toads i have looked at, my #1 pick was the bumble bee walking toad. they are just so cool! but alas, very difficult to find and a bit pricey for a beginner depending where you get them.
I also looked into firebelly toads, they seem ok. Im not especially wowed by them, but if i dont find something else i like i might go with these.
i really dont like pacmans. no idea if they would even fit in a 15 just throwing that opinion out there lol.
I don't know much about these toads but they might be something you want to look into. Indonesian toads. They are fairly small, I saw them in a store and they are adorable. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about them.

I've got some ideas now,
Axolotl
Crested gecko
Anole
I don't know if you like snakes or not but I highly suggest a hognose snake. They bluff like crazy but they almost never bite. They strike with their mouths closed. I find them hilarious.

I seen some of those indonesain toads in a store here and am planning on getting some in the future. From the little research I have done the female can grow up to 8 inches, so those little toads don't stay to little for long. You can house them together, they do better in pairs. If we are thinking of the same one which im pretty we are they are also called a Black Spined Toad or a black spotted toad, they actually have tons of names. The latin name is Duttaphrynus Melanostictus.
Anoles are alot of fun, but need much much more than a 15g. Far too active for something small. We got bunches of the little buggers, and eggs(fml)
