Ralph and Kermit were two incredile friends that lost their battle to bacterial infections. Kermit passed while I was on vacation, Ralph stuggled through seizures and lost control of his muscles and ultimatly resulted in the failure of his organs resulting in his death. I had them for 9 incredible monhts, they brought me happiness, and friendship they understood me better than anyone else. I love them and will always love them.

frogs are finicky creatures to raise. you really can't take long vacations (they're setups need regular maintenance, at least weekly) they are also quite sensitive to changes in their environment and any stress can make them more susceptible to infection. i've found that my frogs tend to do better in "dry" setups. i used to have an issue with frogs dying from what i suspected to be bacterial infection (red leg, bloating, etc) when I had them in tanks with water (ie the frogs could submerge themselves in it), and this was the case even with regular water changes. I have since set up my tanks with a drainage layer, followed by coconut fiber with live sphagnum moss on top and have not had a problem since. the live sphagnum moss tends to retard bacterial/fungal growth and the absence of stagnant water (via the drainage layer) further reduces bacterial growth. just my 2 cents
