    Default Hello everyone

    Whats up everyone

This is my first post. i just wanted to show everyone my tank and hear some peoples opinions.

The tank just got upgraded from a 15 gallon to a 56 gallon column. I currently have 2 green tree frogs (hyla cinerea), 1 gray tree frog (hyla versicolor) and two green anoles.

I was also looking for opinions on the petra crotons plant in the corner. i have heard a lot of mixed opinions about how safe it is too put with frogs

Welcome to the forum. I'm more of a gecko person, but aren't the anoles humidity needs much lower than for frogs?

All of the species in the tank have identical needs. They are all local species that come from the exact same place. I have never kept geckos, they are definately on my list of things to get in the future lol

Hello and welcome to Frog Forum

IMO -In all due respect~~~~ regardless of temp requirements , humidity requirements and size of the enclosure, would be to separate all of them and not to mix species.

Inexperienced people obtain native species and put them together because they may have read about another person having done this , and that person stating " and there are never any problems".

If you do decide to go ahead with this ( and if the animals are in your possession ) you will need to have a excellent understanding of the care each species and the possible toxicity of each to the others.
This is something which is well understood after having husbandry practice with each species for a long time.
After gaining this experience, most people come to the realization that its really not a good idea after all .

Typically, if someone has to ask if it's possible, the common answer is no. For obvious reasons.

Also, be sure it is not illegal ( or permit required ) to keep any native amphibian species in captivity in the state in which you live.

If your animals should - by some chance - breed. Have you thought as to what you would do with the off spring since they should NEVER be released from captivity.

In many states, it is necessary to have a permit to keep and breed native frog species (of which is done under very specific guidelines) ; not to mention illegal to sell.
