Howdy folks,
My name is Tom. I kept Great Plains toads and Gulf Coast toads as a kid, setting them up in screen topped outdoor enclosures in my backyard, feeding them by way of night lights and insects I would catch during the daylight hours, planting and watering their little outdoor runs. I started keeping tortoises when I was nine, and amphibians really took a backseat, unfortunately. I've now decided that I would like to get back into the hobby of keeping toads.
Since I have kept Great Plains toads and Gulf Coast toads, I wanted to try something a little more exotic, namely a Western Leopard toad or a giant cane toad. The Western Leopard, I'm sure, will depend upon availability (hopefully there is a breeder on this forum). I'm sure I will have no trouble finding a feral Florida cane toad for sale by some dealer.
I'm in no hurry to get started. I'm starting my dubia roach colony this month, and I want the colony to be self-sustaining before I start feeding toads from it. So yes, it's nice to meet so many folks who are so enthusiastic about amphibians. I've always found them incredibly fascinating animals, toads most of all. Anywho, I look forward to hearing from you folks and participating in the forum. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Tom
