Hi i live in London and have a small pond in my garden.
Last year I had many frog in there around February and subsequently had lots of spawn floating on the surface and therefore lots of lovely tadpoles and baby frogs. I also had newts and there are a few goldfish in there.
This year I was away for 5 months over the winter. On returning last week the ponds were very dirty and green as the filter hadn't been running and I was concerned that there was no frogspawn. I later saw a very small clump of around 15 eggs floating on the top. yesterday I noticed a frog sitting in the water at the bottom but then noticed that there were in fact many clumps of spawn but at the bottom of the pond about 2ft deep, but that they seemed to be covered in dirt and some tangled in pond weed. Im unsure whether to try and move them to a bucket or raise and shake some of the dirt off and free them from the weed, or will they still grow as they are? Any help appreciated. I love having these little fellows in my garden and want to help them prosper. Thanks
